Meeting of metropolitan museums

The Rouen Museum of Fine Arts established a dialogue very early on between its collections and the art of our time. Since 2012, many artists have been invited, either for monographic exhibitions or as part of the Time of Collections (Pierre Buraglio, Véra Molnar, François Morellet, Bertrand Gadenne, Vladimir Skoda, Gilles Marrey, Simon Nicaise, etc.).

The creation of the Réunion des Musées Métropolitains in 2016 saw the emergence of a new annual event of contemporary culture, La Ronde, opening the museums wide to young creation as well as internationally renowned artists (Ann Veronica Janssens, Georges Adéagbo , Christian Jaccard…). The presence of living art in the program is further intensified in 2018, with a major exhibition bringing together the collection of the FRAC Normandie Rouen with ancient art, the invitation of two artists in residence (Sara Bran at the Le Secq des Tournelles,  Annica Karlsson Rixon at the Museum of Fine Arts) and finally a season devoted to ancient and contemporary drawing (Gilgian Gelzer, Jérôme Zonder, Sarkis).
